If you believe someone else has access to your iTweet account, act quickly. This guide walks you through identifying the compromise, locking the attacker out, and restoring your account to a safe state.
- Posts, comments, DMs, or follows you didn't make.
- Your email, phone, username, or password was changed without your action.
- You received a login alert from a device or location you don't recognize.
- Friends report suspicious DMs sent from your account.
- You're suddenly logged out and can't sign back in.
- Open Settings → Security Center and review Active Sessions.
- Tap Log out on every device you don't recognize.
- Change your password to a strong, unique one (12+ characters, not reused elsewhere).
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) via authenticator app or SMS.
- Review connected apps and revoke anything unfamiliar.
- Confirm the email and phone number on the account are still yours.
Start with Account Recovery. iTweet will send a verification code to your email or phone. If both were changed by the attacker, choose "I no longer have access to these" to enter manual review. You'll be asked for:
- The original email or phone used to sign up.
- Approximate account creation date.
- A recent device or IP you signed in from.
- Government ID if the account is verified or monetized.
Manual review typically takes 24–72 hours.
- Delete any posts, reels, comments, or DMs the attacker created.
- Warn followers you were compromised — attackers often DM scams to your contacts.
- Review and remove unknown followers, blocked lists, and muted words.
- Check payment methods and subscription changes.
- Rotate passwords on the email account linked to iTweet — that's how most takeovers start.
File a report from Settings → Support → Report a hacked account. Include timestamps, unknown device names, and screenshots. Our Trust & Safety team can freeze the account, invalidate all sessions, and audit recent activity.
- Use a password manager — never reuse the iTweet password anywhere else.
- Turn on 2FA and save your backup codes offline.
- Never share verification codes, even with people claiming to be iTweet support.
- Be cautious of DMs with links promising verification, free followers, or brand deals.
- Regularly check Secure your iTweet account for a full checklist.
